Outlook updating cached headers
All - I completed some checks and in the OAB in Organization Configuration, the distribution mechanism was set to public folders only. From what I understand this is the method Outlook 2003 clients or earlier *only* utilise to update the OAB.The server has been rebooted, however as an added measure I did also restart the Exchange File Distribution and the Exchange Address Book services. I have upped the logging on OAB events to high so will update you if I start to see anything relevant. My Offline Address Book is not updating when I use Cached Exchange Mode. On the File menu, point to Cached Exchange Mode, and then click Download Full Items, Download Headers and then Full Items, or Download Headers.
This will result in a slight delay in updates to item status (up to a 1 minute delay) when changes are made to items in a mailbox accessed by Outlook 2003.I know this because the emails are hitting my Iphone and unless i go in and manually pull them down it just sit's there. Everyone is on a spiritual path; most people just don't know it.~ Marianne Williamson Are you connecting Outlook to an Exchange mail server? Did you change Outlook's default configuration to NOT poll automatically at preset intervals for new messages?“Use Cached Exchange Mode” is likely disabled because of a Group Policy that is in effect on your computer.
If you are on a company network, you might want to contact an administrator to disable it.
If you can't resolve the problem with getting UDP packets (sent unsolicited to you to push updates to Outlook) then you have to disable Exchange Cache mode and revert to the old polling scheme hence also why I mentioned looking at its current configuration.
